Wedding Day

The ladies headed off for a day at the spa and the guys jumped in a pickup truck in to town to walk around.

We threw back a few fruit shakes checked out the town. John, Kyle’s Dad, either saw a picture or heard about a place called Banana Rock, but had no idea what it was. We hired a longtail to take us there, not know what we would end up doing. Along the way the rod used for steering the propeller broke off making it impossible to get any leverage and maneuver the longtail. We slowed to a crawl making small turns as we headed in to Banana Rock. What luck, it’s a bar, and the coolest bar I have ever seen in my life. In the middle of nowhere just over the ocean on the shoreline. Basically a bunch of drift wood tied together to form a structure with the owner’s living quarters above it all. A few pillows, hammocks, and chairs to sit on. The place was empty except for us and we ordered up a round of beers, including one for our longtail sailor who was currently cutting a new piece to fix the boat.

They have everything in Thailand... Now why would you guarantee them for 20 years...

After a while we headed back to the resort and did some more snorkeling. In fact the wedding was at 5 and Kyle was in the water until 4:30ish. The ceremony was performed by Kyle’s cousin Krista. The wedding was magical. Perfect setting over looking the bay, a great sunset, slight wind, and amazing people. You could feel the energy in the air.

After the ceremony the entire staff was waiting for us up at the pool, where they had a number of traditional Thai dishes for us to dine on, all just awesome.

As I said before this was more than just the wedding, it was about who Kyle and Bethany were as one. They were the one who gave the resort the experience of hosting an amazing wedding, and this was the first wedding ever held at Jamahkiri Resort in Koh Tao, Thailand. Awesome!
